Surrey Business Group, which Nick Richardson of rhw Solicitors LLP helped to establish, becomes first group to join the Disability Challengers Business Club and to become a Challengers Champion.

The BEST Business Group has become Surrey’s first group to join the Disability Challengers Champions Business Club.

On 9th November BEST presented a cheque to the children’s charity to support its excellent work with disabled people between 5 and 25. The £1,000 will help fund activities for a year.

The presentation followed a guest appearance at BEST’s weekly breakfast by Disability Challengers fund-raising manager, Mady Hatton, who gave a 10 minute talk, explaining how supporting the charity will help businesses build trust and respect.

he benefits of the Challengers Business Club, she added, include quarterly dinners with top business speakers; quarterly networking evenings with like-minded businesses in the region, and an annual celebrity dinner with one of Challengers’ patrons, Damon Hill, former Formula 1 world champion, Michael Buerk, BBC household name, or actor, Matthew Kelly.

Challenger Champions, as corporate sponsors, also get regular credit on e-letters, Newsletters and the Challengers website with its 4,000 unique users every month.

“We’re thrilled that BEST has joined as a Challenger Champion, They’re our first business group to do so and we know it’ll be a very fruitful relationship. Above all, BEST has a broad range of talented business people and we’re delighted they’re championing our cause.”

BEST is one of Surrey’s longest-running business groups, consisting of practitioners from the worlds of architecture, property development, banking and accountancy. It also has IT specialists, estate agents, a building contractor, advertising agency, telecoms experts, landscape gardeners, a construction project manager, an IFA and a PR agency.

BEST chairman, Simon Dennis, commercial director of Greencorn, the professional IT support service, said:

“At BEST we all know and admire the wonderful work that Disability Challengers do for 1,200 children and their families in Surrey.”

“And we’re very proud to be the first business group in Surrey to become Challenger Champions.”

“Already individual members of the group are following suit like PNPR and we know that we all stand to benefit from the partnership. It will bring networking and learning opportunities, hearing inspirational speakers. And, of course, we hope to make a difference for the children who go to Disability Challengers to play and socialise in a safe and loving environment.”
