Injunctions - Non Molestation and Occupation Orders

The Government defines domestic violence as, "Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality".

If you are suffering from domestic violence, whether you are male or female, it is imperative you seek help as soon as possible. If you are in immediate fear you should call the Police.

Most Police Stations have a Domestic Violence Unit, which has officers trained in helping victims of Domestic Violence. If appropriate they can also put you in touch with a Women's Refuge if you need a place of safety immediately.

There are also civil remedies available. You can apply for a Non-Molestation Order to stop the aggressive and/or harassing behaviour. In addition you can apply for an Occupation Order, seeking to remove your partner from your home.

It is important to seek legal advice so that you understand the Court process and what an application involves. As rhw we are volunteers for the National Centre for Domestic Violence and you will receive expert advice.

It can take a lot of courage to admit that you are a victim of domestic violence however there is help available and we are waiting for your call.
